Bring your own food and supplies, including paper towels. * Electricity for the Camp Jackson property is run by a hydro-electric system which is limited. There is plenty of power for lighting and basic power usage but please be mindful of your power consumption. Heavy power users such as curling irons, blow dryers, electric griddles, etc. use a lot of electricity and may not work. Please do not use them excessively. There is a meter on the wall at the cabin with information about the electricity. * Garbage bags are provided. Tie garbage bags tightly to reduce odor and to keep animals away. Place bags in caged area in the trailer by the pavilion. * It is very rare but there may be bears and other animals in the area, so keep all coolers and food inside at night. Food and coolers can be kept in the restroom area of the pavilion at night. * Pets- You may bring pets, but please keep them outside of cabins unless you put them in a carrier. Clean up your pet's waste appropriately. There is no charge for outside pets but you will be fined and charged if pets are brought indoors (see our policy page for more info). * The water in the lake is cold and deep. Fishing is allowed for catch and release only. Please pinch the barbs on the hooks so the hooks can be removed without injuring the fish. ALWAYS remember to use life jackets or coast guard approved flotation devices when on, near or around the lake area. You are responsible for the safety and well-being of all participants and children in your group. PLEASE NEVER LEAVE CHILDREN UNATTENDED NEAR THE LAKE!! No lifeguard on duty- swim at your own risk. * Smoking-There is NO smoking allowed inside the cabins. Fees will be assessed if there is smoking in the cabins. * Stay out of the posted private area. * Stay on the existing trails with all vehicles, including motorcycles and four-wheelers. * On Departure-Leave the beds you used unmade. The Apple Lane Western Log Cabin is the most stunning choice for guests looking for a "western-cowboy" getaway. Sleeps up to 10 in beds including the futon in the living room. This is a Genuine hand-hewn log cabin in its own forest with peace and solitude! You will LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! When you first drive up to the cabin, you will think you have arrived at an oasis in the desert where there are the main cabin and a small additional cabin which is not included but is available for an additional fee. Lush grass and leafy trees (you may help yourself to the Plum, Peach, and Apple fruit trees) keep the property cool and inviting on even a warm day. During the evening you can see deer on the property enjoying the grass and fruit that has dropped from the trees. The main cabin is an authentic log cabin with modern amenities, you will feel like you stepped back in time to the old west when you lift the latch and walk into the cabin. Vaulted ceilings with skylights bring light into the rooms making it warm and inviting in both lofts as well as the main level. There are traditional (decorative only!) wood-burning stoves beautifully restored in both the cabin and the cottage as well as an oil chandelier (please don’t attempt to light, for decoration only!) with traditional western décor throughout. When you step into the kitchen, however, it’s all modern amenities with a large modern refrigerator and gas stove along with all the kitchen appliances you could want, crockpot, coffee makers, juicers, bread-maker, etc. that provide you with all the amenities of home. A modern washer and dryer along with a water softening system ensure that you will have clean and fresh clothes along with a very pleasant shower. Stepping outside there’s a Jenn Air grill on the porch that you can cook on while the kids play in the beautifully landscaped yard with incredibly soft grass. At one end of the main living area you'll find a couch, recliner, TV and DVD player, and at the other end is the dining table. The large utility room has a washer and dryer, plus enough room for a couple of bicycles, hunting or climbing gear, or anything else you need extra room to store inside during your stay. Very clean and comfortable with lots of updates, yet it retains many of the features you love to see in old homes. We have big plans for the yard but it is currently a work in progress.

When you first drive up to the cabin, you will think you have arrived at an oasis in the desert where there’s the main cabin and an additional Guest House. Lush grass and leafy trees (you may help yourself to the Plum, Peach, and Apple fruit trees) keep the property cool and inviting on even a warm day. During the evening you can see deer on the property enjoying the grass and fruit that has dropped from the trees. The main cabin is an authentic log cabin with modern amenities, you will feel like you stepped back in time to the old west when you lift the latch and walk into the cabin. Vaulted ceilings with skylights bring light into the rooms making it warm and inviting in both lofts as well as the main level. There are traditional (decorative only!) wood-burning stoves beautifully restored in both the cabin and the cottage as well as an oil chandelier (please don’t attempt to light, for decoration only!) with traditional western décor throughout. When you step into the kitchen, however, it’s all modern amenities with a large modern refrigerator and gas stove along with all the kitchen appliances you could want, crockpot, coffee makers, juicers, bread-maker, etc. that provide you with all the amenities of home. A modern washer and dryer along with a water softening system ensure that you will have clean and fresh clothes along with a very pleasant shower. Stepping outside there’s a Jenn Air grill on the porch that you can cook on while the kids play in the beautifully landscaped yard with incredibly soft grass. It’s hard to imagine a more perfect family location for a vacation that is centrally located to all the area has to offer. The adjacent cabin is perfect for a couple who want to be alone or for those who want to retire early in the evening or just want some quiet time away from the group. The cottage has a large queen size bed and is tastefully decorated and includes your own private T.V. with cable. Please note that there is not a bathroom in the Guesthouse so you will have to use one of the two in the main cabin. When it’s time for bed, there is a large master suite with a queen-size bed, along with two twin beds and a queen size futon bed in the main loft, plus a pair of twin beds in the second loft that will leave you waking up rested and ready for the day. Add in the queen size bed in the adjacent cottage and you will have sleeping accommodations for the largest of families. When you get back from your day's adventures you will be able to spend relaxing evenings reading books from the well-stocked library or watching movies from the large DVD collection. The entire experience of staying here will make you want to come back time and time again before you have even left! The living room storage closet has a broom and mop as well as cleaning supplies. New furnishings and appliances are part of the new remodel, with a full kitchen and dishwasher. To avoid scratches on the glass cooktop, Please pick up pans when cooking on the stove. There is a stackable washer and dryer. Laundry supplies are in the cupboard on the wall. The owner lives on the main level and noise levels are kept very quiet. The enclosed-insulated utility closet has a tankless water heater and furnace. Slight noises occur as they power up for hot water, heating, and cooling needs. (You may not get a cell signal when out hiking, so download maps and information before your adventures for the day.) The outdoor grill, fire pit, big yard with outdoor fireplace, and garden area are available for cooking hot dogs or s'mores over the fire and the grass area is available for lawn games. No smoking in the apartment or within 50 ft of the upstairs premises. No animals allowed as the owner has allergies. Blanding does not sell liquor or Beer. This apartment is one block from Main Street, where there is dining, restaurants, gourmet coffee and pastries, ice cream, shopping, bowling, and a movie theater. The Bungalow is also close to a hardware store, Pharmacy, and banking options. The bungalow is 8 blocks from the grocery store and wellness center with workout equipment and an outdoor pool. Recommended eating establishments include Patio Diner, Homestead Steak House, Canyon Country A&W burgers, Subway, Grayson Ice Cream Parlor. Visit Destination Awake for gourmet coffee, lattes, iced coffee, and pastries. Sunday: only the Subway, A&W, and Maverik are open for food. There is a Blanding City Wellness Center at 1013 South 500 West (435-678-3457) that has a workout room, gym, basketball and volleyball courts, and an outdoor pool. The center is located next to the City Park with baseball fields and a skate park. Fishing and swimming are available at Recapture Dam. Other amenities available in Blanding are spa treatments and various types of massages. Book aesthetics with H+A Hanna Bailey (801-520-2022 hnaskin@gmial.com) and Island Bliss Wellness Spa (435-429-1214). Bluff, a 25-minute drive, has the Hozho spa located in the Bluff Dwellings Resort (435-572-7554). A short 5-minute drive (or 15-minute walk) takes you to the Edge of the Cedars Museum on the west edge of town. The museum has one of the finest collections of ancient Indian artifacts: pots, bowls, turkey feather cloak, reed sandals, feather aprons, and many other fascinating treasures. There is an archaeological dig with an Anasazi Indian ruin that dates back over 1300 years ago. Climb down into the kiva and view how the structure was built and learn about the sipapu and religious ceremonies. 2 miles south of town in West Water Canyon is the 5 Kiva Pueblo ruin. You can cross the canyon and respectfully view the structure up close. A 5-minute drive takes you to the Nations of the Four Corners. There are hiking trails that lead to replica homes of the Anasazi, Ute, Paiute, and Navajo Indians as well as the Mexican and Pioneers that settled the area. From the viewing tower, you can see all 4 states in the 4 corners monument area. The dinosaur museum has some rare species of dinosaurs found in this area. It is definitely worth the trip. Open Mon-Sat. A 20-minute car ride takes you to Butler Wash Ruins and South Cottonwood as well as the Comb Ridge cut. Arch Canyon has the famous House on Fire that is about a mile hike. Cave Towers is where ancient Indians Guarded precious water resources. There are ruins along the canyon rim that offer spectacular views. Within a 90 minute driving you can visit Historic Bluff Fort and Bluff town, Anasazi ruins, Sand Island Rock Art, Mexican Hat, Monument Valley, Historic Hatch Trading Post, Hovenweep, Bears Ears Monument, Goosenecks State Park, Natural Bridges with night sky viewing, Grand Gulch, and Canyonlands. For the Adventurous look up Wild Rivers Expeditions for River running, Rappelling, hiking, and biking (435-672-2244). Enjoy your stay. Guest access Guests that take advantage of Vista Del Oso have access to the entire property, with the exception of the garage. All 4 bedrooms are quaintly and comfortably appointed, with all bed and bath linens provided. Guests have access to the laundry facilities (Washer and Dryer) in the wood floor room off the kitchen, and access to the basement - although there's not much down there to see, it does offer storage space to guests that have equipment or items that they'd like to keep in a controlled environment out of the weather. There is enough room in the back of the property for parking RV's (sorry - no hook ups), ATV Trailers and Jeeps. The concrete driveway on the north side will easily accommodate 3 vehicles, and the dirt driveway near the corner will easily host 2 vehicles bumper to bumper. Of course, there's always parking on the 300' of available curb on the street. The Fireside Patio is one of my favorite spaces on the property. Guests are encouraged to build a fire and enjoy this space. It's a great place to unwind and share stories of the day's adventures while watching the sun set over Bear's Ears. Please note: In the house rules, I've asked that guests not build a fire the night before their departure - we clean the fireplace before every guest's arrival, and need the ashes to be cool. There's a horseshoe pit next to the Fireside Patio for groups to enjoy some friendly competition while enjoying a BBQ or just relaxing outside.
